2008 flood

Consider this your 2008 Flood reference site for information from clean-up to hiring a professional contractor. The HBA is dedicated to helping our community recover from this disaster by providing information for and a link to finding reputable contractors in the Greater Cedar Rapids Area. We have recruited over 100 qualified HBA members to help in the inspection process in the evacuated areas and are working to get information out to the public who may be in need of cleaning out their homes or businesses and eventually in the market for a contractor or remodeler.

BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED
BY THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA
as follows:

            Section 1.  The City of Cedar Rapids has been the subject of a flooding emergency and disaster on or about June 11, 2008. 

            Section 2.  The Cedar Rapids City Council recently adopted a resolution declaring a state of emergency and requesting the Mayor, under Iowa Code Chapter 372 to undertake emergency actions as allowed by law. 

            Section 3.  Any violation of this proclamation, or of any emergency proclamation issued pursuant to the determination of a state of emergency, or of any order or rule issued pursuant to this or any supplemental proclamation, or of any order issued by a peace officer pursuant to this or any supplemental proclamation, or of any directive issued by designated emergency services personnel pursuant to this or any supplemental proclamation, shall constitute a misdemeanor chargeable and punishable as provided by the Cedar Rapids Municipal Code. 

            Section 4.  Until this proclamation is rescinded there shall be a temporary hold on the issuance of building permits, approval of land use applications, or other permits and entitlements related to the use, development and occupancy or demolition of private property within any flooded area which has been subject to emergency evacuation.
